I am a qualified teacher obtained my Bachelor of Education in 2011 at the North West University (Vaal Campus). I started working with pottery in 2017 under the mentorship of master potter Homa Farley (Abu Dhabi Pottery Establishment) during my time spend in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates as an English Teacher.
Doing pottery working with different clays, firing techniques and glazes. Knowing that one can create a masterpiece from scratch, from nothing but clay was amazing. This was a true amazing experience to think that four elements can be combined water, fire, earth and wind.
My work is mainly creating functional pottery that one can use. I am inspired by medieval times, ancient pottery but trying to make it modern and functional. I think one can learn a lot from history and how things where done. I love doing raku pottery and working with stoneware and porcelain.
I am currently between Abu Dhabi and Vanderbijlpark and hope to settle in Vanderbijlpark opening a pottery studio to teach others the skill of pottery and creating more functional pottery.
