Anita Malan
Born in Bethlehem, Free State. Matriculated in Bloemfontein. Obtained National Diploma in ceramic design in 1984 and National Higher Diploma in 1986 at Free State Technikon.
I taught Ceramic science part time at Free State Technicon and had the opportunity in 1997 to teach Second- and Third year Ceramic students at P.E. Technicon. I also taught at Russel Road College in Port Elizabeth. I started a small business there, doing silk-screening on tiles and mosaïc work.
I am currently self-employed and work from home in Somerset – West. Since moving from Johannesburg three years ago I have been inspired by the sea and its elements, particularly different boat shapes.
I took part in several Lecturer’s Exhibition in Bloemfontein and Port Elizabeth, and had a one man exhibition in Bloemfontein after receiving a National Higher Diploma in Ceramic design. I also took part in several exhibitions organized by CSA. I have work on permanent exhibition at the King George Gallery in Port Elizabeth. Some work are currently on exhibition in the Africana gallery in Melbourne, Australia and various galleries locally.
