I have a BAFA from Unisa with distinction in History of Art and MAFA from UKZN. My interests lie predominantly with issues environmental and societal and my work may be loosely seen to fall within the ambit of Eco Art.
While I have been using clay as a sculptural medium for over 25 years, as well as other traditional media, an important concern of mine is the incorporation and use, wherever possible, of recycled materials, as I am of the opinion that the media used also contributes towards the meaning of the works, as can the very process of making. If possible, I only fire once in an electrical kiln, glazing greenware, and use sawdust and waste products for smoke-firing when required.
