Gail de Klerk
I have been working with clay since 1969.
My work is mainly in porcelain as its reflective qualities have a special appeal.  I have long been interested in the 17th century Staffordshire slip decorated ware and in 1978 was able to attend a course in England with John Solly who was a leading proponent of slip decoration and I have incorporated it into my work.  At present I am exploring forms that will be enhanced by the richness of the glaze.  I also work in stoneware and terracotta.
I have exhibited on numerous CSA National and Regional exhibitions as well as private exhibitions.
I joined CSA (formerly APSA) when it was founded in 1972 and have over the years been a committee member.   At present I am a Trustee of the Corobrik Collection and also Editorial Associate of the National Ceramics Quarterly.
