My hands first touched cold, raw clay about 35 years ago when I began tuition with the late Julia Fraser – who was a good friend – and had been a student of John Edwards.
I loved it from the word go! Being in the dance world most of my life, I found the creative aspect right up my street, although at times working with a ‘body’ is easier than working the clay!!
I then joined Digby Hoets studio around 1985/86 and have been there ever since. I work mainly in stone-ware throwing on the wheel and have also produced some vessels in reduction firing. One area of interest is South African rock art which I sometimes portray on a clay body using the Aboriginal technique of ‘dot painting’.
I have participated in several workshops offered by Ceramics S.A and have exhibited on both Regional and National exhibitions.
