Muriel Dekker
I have been doing ceramics since 2004. In 2006 I attended a Raku firing in Holland and since then I was hooked. Most of my projects have been geared towards setting pots alight - I'm a pyromaniac! I love sawdust firing, pit firing and this year I'm building my own raku kiln. Until now most of the vessels and statues I've made were hand sized, but I am now starting to make bigger pots and sculptures. Experimenting with oxides, sulphates and under glazes will be my next challenge.
My other interests include training ‘search & rescue’ dogs, which I am passionate about. I am also a trained First Aid and Scuba Diving instructor. I am fortunate to have traveled extensively and have lived in Europe, the Middle East and now Africa.
