Peter Jaff
I have been involved in pottery since 1979, with Digby Hoets and established my own studio in 1982 firing in an electric kiln. I work mainly in porcelain, producing both decorative and domestic ware. Large bowls and platters with simple slip trailing designs are typical of my work.
I served as the treasurer of the former Transvaal Branch of the Association of Potters for a period of six years.
I have participated in a number of single and joint exhibitions throughout the country and in most regional and national ceramic exhibitions since 1981. I was Highly Commended in the 1993 regional exhibition and won the prize for the best thrown piece at the 1997 Ceramics Now exhibition held in Pretoria.
In the late 1980’s I had two solo exhibitions at the late Barry Douglas’ gallery in Rosebank.
My work has been acquired by the Durban Art Gallery, Williams Humphries Collection in Kimberley and the Corobrick Collection, as well by private collectors in this country and abroad.
I have an extensive collection of local and British ceramics which inspires me in my work.
