Tessa Whyatt is an eclectic artist. She specialised in Ceramics during her art foundation at Central Saint Martin’s in London, followed by a B.A. Fine Arts at the University of Cape Town specialising in sculpture. Tessa also has a Masters in Art Therapy from the University of Hertfordshire, U.K. and is an accredited Time To Think Facilitator. Her time is shared between her art practice, Thinking Environment training, and working with children as an Art Therapist.
Tessa’s ceramics are unusual, experimental and quirky pieces, exploring inspiration in a variety of natural forms. Her work stems from a diversity of biological influences, ranging from human anatomy; through flowers, seed pods and trees; to microscopic underwater creatures. Tessa creates organic shapes that remain associative, yet are entirely original. She has predominantly kept to neutrals, using white earthenware clay, but has started introducing colour into her work. Tessa has been working on a range of Functional Sculptures.
