Caroline Schulz Vieira
Caroline's work expresses a dialogue with the vessel and its associations – as container, space defined by walls or boundaries, and the unapparent yet intimate relationship between the ceramic vessel and architecture – the enclosed space we eat out of and the enclosed spaces we inhabit.  She likes to explore a multiplicity of styles and languages, both in forms whose beauty stem from their purity and understatement, and also in decorative vessels as carriers of a personal narrative.
Caroline works in stoneware and porcelain, hand built or wheel thrown, fired to 1260C.  Surface finishes are kept to the minimal, slips and glazes intend to define form rather than compete with it.
She has exhibited and sold her work since 1994.
She also runs a teaching studio in Johannesburg.
