Born in Johannesburg in 1944.
While teaching high school in Johannesburg, started pottery classes part-time with brother Digby.
Work is both functional and decorative, producing both electric fired stoneware and gas fired reduction stoneware. Decorative inspiration and stimulation for most pieces comes from various aspects found in nature whether it be abstracted or realistic.
Was a member of the Natal committee of the Association of Potters of Southern Africa (APSA) for a number of years as well as serving as chairman for a couple of years. Nominated as a selector and judge for past Natal Regional and National Exhibition entries. Has participated in most regional and national exhibitions since 1981.
Currently still teaching and producing ware, some on commission privately and to game lodges and conference centres.
